$1500 loan

How a $1,500 Loan Works in Canada

In short: Alter Cash lends $300 to $1,500 online, anywhere in Canada. The application takes a few minutes and is entirely online. If your application is approved and you sign, the funds are sent by Interac e-Transfer the same day, with no transfer fee. You repay over 61 to 120 days, in bi-weekly or monthly payments, never in one lump sum. A low credit score does not lead to an automatic refusal.

What a $1,500 loan from Alter Cash looks like

A $1,500 loan is the most you can borrow from Alter Cash, and it works like every other loan we offer. You choose an amount from $300 to $1,500. If your application is approved and you sign the contract, the funds are sent to you by Interac e-Transfer the same day. You repay in instalments over 61 to 120 days, bi-weekly or monthly, matched to your pay dates.

Alter Cash is a direct lender: the money and the decision both come from us. Your file is not passed around a network of brokers, and no intermediary stands between your application and the deposit. Everything happens online, so the process is the same in Quebec, Ontario or anywhere else in Canada.

People use a loan of this size for expenses that cannot wait for the next paycheque: a car repair, urgent dental work, a rent shortfall, an overdue utility bill or an appliance that broke down. The loan covers the gap without putting the whole repayment on a single payday.

Looking for a 1500 loan, a 1500 cash loan or a 1500 dollar loan? You probably want a larger amount that you can repay in instalments, not all at once. That is what this page covers: how to apply, who qualifies, what it costs and how it differs from a payday loan.

How to apply in minutes

Applying takes three steps. None of them requires a branch visit, a phone interview or paper documents.
1

Apply online.

Choose your amount, up to $1,500, and fill out the form. It takes about five minutes on a phone or a computer, any day of the week. Have your contact details and your online banking access ready. Nothing needs to be printed, scanned or mailed.

2

Connect your bank (IBV).

Instant bank verification replaces the hard credit inquiry. You connect your account in a secure, read-only session, and we look at your income and account activity instead of your credit history. There are no documents to scan and no pay stubs to photograph. Looking for a 1500 instant loan? The instant part is this bank verification. The decision itself is reviewed during business hours.

3

Sign and get funded.

Once your application is approved, you sign your contract electronically. The funds then leave by Interac e-Transfer the same day, with no transfer fee.

Who qualifies for a $1,500 loan

Your eligibility depends on your situation today, not on your credit history. To qualify, you need:

  • to be 18 years of age or older;
  • Canadian citizenship and a Canadian bank account;
  • income of at least $1,200 per month, paid into your account by direct deposit;
  • at least 3 months with your current employer;
  • no active bankruptcy;
  • no repeated pattern of NSF (non-sufficient funds) payments in your account.

Bad credit does not rule you out. There is no automatic refusal based on your credit score: a low score, a short credit history or a resolved past bankruptcy does not close the door, because we look at your banking activity today, not your past. Some income sources are not accepted on their own: self-employment, child tax credit, retirement savings, student loans, and social assistance (including ODSP). We do not accept KOHO accounts.

These criteria exist so that the loan fits inside your budget. Meeting them does not mean your application is approved: each application is reviewed individually, during business hours. If you want to know how we assess you without a hard credit inquiry, our page on loans with no credit check explains the bank verification in detail.

Is a $1,500 loan a payday loan?

No, and the difference matters most at $1,500. A payday loan must be repaid in one payment on your next payday. Say you take home $2,000 every two weeks and a $1,500 payday loan plus fees comes due: most of that paycheque is gone the day it arrives, and that is how a cycle of repeat borrowing starts. An instalment loan spreads the repayment over several paycheques instead of loading it onto one.

The amount can be the same, but the structure is not, and the structure decides whether the loan solves your emergency or creates the next one. If a smaller, shorter loan is closer to what you need, our page on the cash advance in Canada compares the options, including ones we do not sell.

What it costs

The annual rate is 28% (APR), plus a one-time $0.95 transaction fee. Representative example: you borrow $300 over 16 weeks and repay 8 bi-weekly payments of $39.34 (the last one is $39.33). That is $14.71 in interest at 28% APR. With the $0.95 transaction fee, you repay $315.66 in total. You can repay early, in part or in full, at any time without penalty. A $50 NSF fee applies if a payment is returned.

Your contract is calculated for your exact amount and term before you sign anything. It shows the full payment schedule in dollars, with every date and every amount. There are no hidden fees, no broker commissions and no charge for the Interac e-Transfer. What the contract shows is what you repay.

If $1,500 is more than you need

Borrow what your situation requires, not the maximum. A smaller loan means smaller instalments and less interest overall, and it leaves room in your budget if another expense comes up before the last payment. If your expense is closer to $1,000, look at our $1,000 loan. For a smaller gap, the $500 loan may be enough. The application, the same-day Interac e-Transfer and the eligibility criteria are the same at every amount, so a smaller loan costs you nothing in speed.

Frequently asked questions

The application takes about five minutes. If your loan is approved and you sign the contract, the funds are sent by Interac e-Transfer the same day, with no transfer fee. Applications are reviewed during business hours, so the earlier in the day you apply, the earlier the deposit can go out.

Yes. A low credit score does not disqualify you, and there is no automatic refusal based on your credit score. We assess your application on your income and banking activity through instant bank verification (IBV), not on your credit history. Each application is reviewed individually, and approval is not guaranteed.

You need income of at least $1,200 per month, paid into your account by direct deposit, and at least 3 months with your current employer. Some income sources are not accepted on their own: self-employment, child tax credit, retirement savings, student loans, and social assistance (including ODSP).

No. A payday loan is due in full on your next payday. An Alter Cash loan is repaid in instalments over 61 to 120 days, on a bi-weekly or monthly schedule, so no single paycheque carries the whole repayment.

There is no hard credit inquiry. We use instant bank verification (IBV): a secure, read-only connection to your bank account that lets us assess your income and account activity. Applying does not affect your credit score. Our page on loans with no credit check explains the method in detail.
