Your privacy is important to us. That is why we have established this privacy policy to explain how we collect, use, disclose, and process your personal information. This privacy policy describes how Alter Cash collects, uses, manages, and discloses information obtained from users (each, a “User”) on the website altercash.ca. It applies to this website as well as to all products and services offered by Alter Cash.

PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION INFORMATION

We may collect personally identifiable information from users in various ways, including, but not limited to, when you visit our site, register, place an order, fill out a form, respond to a survey, subscribe to newsletters, or participate in other activities, services, features, or resources we make available on our website. Depending on the circumstances, users may be asked to provide their name, email address, postal address, phone number, or credit card information. We will collect personally identifiable information only if it is voluntarily submitted by users. However, refusing to provide certain information may limit access to some features of the website.

NON-PERSONAL IDENTIFICATION INFORMATION

We may also collect non-personal information about users whenever they interact with our website. This information may include the browser name, type of computer, and technical details about the user’s means of connection to our website, such as the operating system, internet service provider, and other similar information.

GOOGLE ANALYTICS AND GOOGLE ADS

This site uses the Google Ads remarketing service to advertise Alter Cash on third-party websites (including Google) to visitors who have previously visited our site. This means we may advertise to previous visitors who haven’t completed a task on our site, such as finishing a purchase or continuing a search. These ads could appear in the form of an ad on a Google search results page or on a site in the Google Display Network. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on someone’s past visits to Alter Cash’s website. The information collected will be used in accordance with this privacy policy and Google’s privacy policy.

COOKIES AND WITHDRAWING YOUR CONSENT

On your first visit, a banner asks you to choose: “Reject all”, “Customize” or “Accept all”. Until you accept a category of cookies, no Google script is loaded and Google’s consent signals (Consent Mode) stay set to “denied”.

  • Essential (always on): your cookie choice, your language and your animation preference are kept in your browser’s local storage and are not sent to us. The address search on the application form also creates the cookie __Host-address-pass, valid for one hour, which confirms the security check.
  • Analytics (Google Analytics 4, G-TYWZ9G1HL5): _ga and _ga_TYWZ9G1HL5, up to 2 years.
  • Marketing (Google Tag Manager GTM-TK5THR3F and Google Ads AW-16638810384): _gcl_au and _gcl_aw, 90 days.

To withdraw your consent or change your choices at any time, use the “Manage cookies” button at the bottom of every page (or the cookie icon at the bottom left of the screen, once you have made a choice). It opens the “Manage my preferences” window, where you can turn off a category and save. The page reloads, the scripts of that category are no longer loaded, and its known cookies are deleted as far as possible. You can also delete cookies in your browser settings. Your choice is kept for 395 days (about 13 months), after which the banner asks you again.

PROTECTING YOUR INFORMATION

We adopt strict data collection, storage, and processing practices, as well as appropriate security measures to protect your personal information, username, password, transaction information, and data stored on our website from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Sensitive and private data exchanged between the website and its users are transmitted over a secured SSL connection and are encrypted and protected with digital signatures.

SHARING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

We do not sell, trade, or rent users’ personally identifiable information to others. We may share aggregated demographic information not linked to any personal identification information regarding visitors and users with our business partners, affiliates, and advertisers for the purposes outlined above. We may use third-party service providers to help us operate our business and the website or administer activities on our behalf, such as sending out newsletters or conducting surveys. We may share your information with these third parties for those limited purposes.

OUR SERVICE PROVIDERS AND WHAT THEY RECEIVE

Here are the service providers that receive information when you use this site, what they receive and why.

To run the site and its forms

  • OVHcloud (hosting). The site runs on an OVHcloud virtual server in Beauharnois, Québec. That server receives what your browser sends to the site, including your IP address. It does not keep your form answers, which are passed to the providers below. Your IP address is used in memory only, for a limited time, to curb abusive submissions.
  • CreditBook (loan application processing). When you send an application, our server passes your answers to our provider CreditBook: the amount requested, identity, date of birth, contact details, address, income and employment, bankruptcy declaration and personal reference. This information is used to review your application and verify your bank account. You then go on to the secure bank verification, on CreditBook’s site, which has its own privacy policy.
  • Amazon Web Services (contact form email). When you write to us through the contact form, Amazon Simple Email Service delivers your message (first name, last name, phone number, email, language and message text) to info@altercash.ca. The service is used in the AWS Canada (Central) region, in Montréal.
  • Cloudflare (Turnstile check). The application form, the contact form and the address search are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which tells people from bots. Cloudflare receives your IP address, technical signals from your browser and the result of the check.
  • Google (address search). If you use the address search on the application form, our server sends Google Places what you type and the address you choose, to suggest addresses and fill in the form. Your browser does not communicate with Google for this feature.

Only with your consent

  • Google (Tag Manager, Analytics and Ads). If you accept analytics cookies, Google Analytics 4 (G-TYWZ9G1HL5) measures how the site is used. If you accept marketing cookies, Google Tag Manager (GTM-TK5THR3F) and Google Ads (AW-16638810384) are used for the advertising conversion measurement and remarketing described above. Your browser then communicates directly with Google, which receives in particular your IP address, the pages you view and actions such as sending an application or a message. We do not send it what you type into the forms.

COMMUNICATION OUTSIDE QUÉBEC

Some of our service providers may process personal information outside Québec. Google and Cloudflare may process it in the United States or in other countries. Amazon Web Services is a US company; the contact form’s email is processed in its Montréal region. OVHcloud hosts the site in Beauharnois, Québec; its affiliates located outside Québec may take part in keeping the service available, secure and maintained.

Before personal information is communicated outside Québec, the law requires a privacy impact assessment (PIA) of that communication, and a written agreement that takes the results of the assessment into account (Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector, CQLR c. P-39.1, s. 17). Alter Cash is subject to this requirement.

YOUR RIGHTS

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Have inaccurate, incomplete or equivocal information corrected.
  • Withdraw your consent to the collection, use or communication of your personal information, subject to restrictions provided by law or by contract. For cookies, see the section “COOKIES AND WITHDRAWING YOUR CONSENT” above.
  • Receive your computerized personal information in a structured, commonly used technological format (portability), or ask that it be communicated to another organization.
  • Require us to cease disseminating your personal information or to de-index any hyperlink attached to your name, in the cases provided by law.

To exercise any of these rights, write to the contact person listed under “CONTACT INFORMATION” below. A request to access or correct your personal information is answered within 30 days of its receipt, as section 32 of the Quebec Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector requires; we answer other requests as promptly as we can.

THIRD-PARTY WEBSITES

Users may find advertising or other content on our website that links to the sites and services of our partners, suppliers, advertisers, sponsors, or other third parties. We do not control the content or links that appear on these sites and are not responsible for the practices employed by websites linked to or from our site. Additionally, these sites or services, including their content and links, may constantly change. These sites and services may have their own privacy policies and customer service policies. Browsing and interacting with any other website, including websites that have a link to ours, are subject to that website’s own terms and policies.

CHANGES TO THE PRIVACY POLICY

Alter Cash reserves the right to update this privacy policy at any time. We encourage users to check this page regularly to stay informed of any changes and the measures we take to protect the personal information we collect. You acknowledge and agree that it is your responsibility to review this privacy policy periodically and become aware of modifications.
